National treasure collections in Shaanxi History Museum

Located in the northwest of Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, Xi'an, Shaanxi History Museum opened on June 20, 1991 as China's first large modern national museum.

The museum covers an area of 65,000 square meters, including a floor area of 55,600 square meters, a cultural relic area of 8,000 square meters and an exhibition area of 11,000 square meters. 1,717,950 collections range from simple stone tools in the early days of mankind to implements used in social life 1840 years ago, with a long time span of more than 1 million years. Among a great number and complete range of high-grade and valuable collections, Shang and Zhou bronze wares are exquisite, terracotta figurines of all dynasties appear in different poses and with different expressions, Han and Tang gold and silver vessels are unmatched in the country, and Tang tomb murals are unrivalled in the world. 

As CCTV's National Treasure became a hit, the museum has risen to fame as one of the nine museums selected into the program.

This year the museum will present 18 distinctive exhibitions, tap rich historical and cultural collection resources, and develop more than 30 cultural and creative products.
