Myanmar's high-ranking Buddhist monk delegation visits Famen Temple Buddhist Culture Scenic Area

On July 9, 2018, a 14-member high-ranking Buddhist monk delegation led by Deputy Director of Welfare Affairs at the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee visited Famen Temple Buddhist Culture Scenic Area.

The delegation worshipped Sarira (Buddha's finger relic), visited Famen Temple, Dagoba and Famen Temple Museum, and inquired about the six-time enshrinement of Sarira by eight Tang emperors and the development of Buddhism in China in the past over 2,000 years. At Famen Temple, Master Xiankong introduced Sarira protection and sangha construction.

The Deputy Director of Welfare Affairs said he was honored to worship the relic of enshrining the finger relic of Sakyamuni in Famen Temple Buddhist Culture Scenic Area. Famen Temple which has kept Sarira intact for thousands of years is worth admiring and learning from. He also expressed his heartfelt thanks to the temple for its hospitality.
